MSN Messenger 8.0 becomes Windows Live Messenger!

On October 28, 2005 Microsoft announced that the next version of its popular IM client: MSN Messenger 8.0 would be renamed to Windows Live Messenger. This is attributed to the fact that the Microsoft Network (MSN) will be splitting into two divisions: the current MSN division will focus on content, while the newly introduced Live division will focus on software and services.
